By the Sea and other new things

Hello my lovely blog friends! I must apologize that I have gotten a little bit behind on my blogging lately. I have a few new paintings to show you, the one above being "By the Sea," something a little summer-y :) I don't usually do short haidos on my girls but she felt like she needed something a little retro :)

This one above is "Rosalie" and her little bee friend.

This one is called "Theater of Dreams" and is a little larger, at 11"x14." I really took my time on this one and enjoyed it. All three paintings are available in my shop.

I am having a lovely day today of painting, tea and lowfat (but still scrumptious) carrot cake bars. I have lost about 15 pounds since last November and am trying to lose a little more before going wedding dress shopping, so I am trying to indulge my baking hobby in a slightly more waist-friendly way :)

And last but certainly not least, I am thrilled that the lovely Vanessa Valencia has announced the date of this year's Mad Tea Party! Just click on the flyer below to get all the details on her blog, anyone with a blog is free to join in! I had such an amazing time last year that I can't wait to do it again. (You can check out my party from last year here).

I hope that you are all having a lovely Friday!

The Pink Shell

Here is my newest painting, "The Pink Shell," which is available in my etsy shop! I have been wanting to paint another mermaid, and I did a larger one this time, a 12x16. For some reason I have been wanting to paint a little bit larger than usual lately. She took me about four days to paint. Here is a closeup:

I also wanted to let you know that the originals of "Free Bird" and "Metamorphosis" have come home from the art gallery and are available in my shop :)

I had a really fun commission recently, from the lovely Heather over at Rose Hill Designs! She asked me to do a painting of their adorable Chocolate Lab, Brownie. He is now happily at his new home :) I love painting other people's pets as I am such an animal lover myself. Thank you so much Heather, it was so much fun to do! :)

I also wanted to let you know that my mom Joni has started her very own blog with her friend Tonya! They are good friends at work and spend their weekends making beautiful mixed-media artwork (such as the lovely spring bird box below) and hunting for vintage treasures. I know it will be a lot of fun to read, and they would so appreciate it if you popped over and said hi! You can find their blog here.

I hope that everyone is having a great beginning to the week and enjoying the spring days! See you soon :)
